Services for School Libraries Cutbacks, understaffed, and needing fresh ideas? Wondering how to get more accomplished and stay within budget? Le Librarian helps public and school libraries with collection development & weeding, materials selections and policy writing! Outsourcing saves money by eliminating overhead expenses normally associated with permanent employees. We offer so many options! Collection Development Policies-describes mission of organization, goals of the collection, who it will serve, purchasing priorities and standards, and authority of the plan. Recommended for public, high school and elementary school libraries. Collection Development policies should be updated every three years. Essential for every library collection! Materials Selections with Budget Plan-a budget is designed and drawn up and an array of materials are planned. Books, audio and video formats, and software are included in the plan. Standing orders, along with annual new materials, are incorporated with this plan. Materials for students, or students/teachers can be requested. Materials selections, with a budget plan, should be done annually. Weeding Projects (Discards)-Have the library's materials examined for usability, content, and value. Remove outdated, ragged, and unused books, videos, and audios. A weeding project recommends replacements where appropriate. Ideal to combine with a Materials Selections project. Weeding should be performed every four or five years. Library Activities Programs (Seasonal)-a Summer reading program for elementary and middle schools, and Young Adult (YA) library-sponsored activities. Each is designed with your institution in mind! Marketing and Community Relations-Plans and ideas designed to increase usage of facilities, and increase local support for the operations of your library. Inceased awareness brings more local financial, parental and citizen support! Build or maintain a great library and great library services!
